NEW YORK, NY - OCTOBER 15: Recording artist Erykah Badu attends Black Girls Rock! 2011 at the Paradise Theater on October 15
John W. Ferguson (Badu), Dave Hogan (Albarn)

Rocket Juice and the Moon ft. Erykah Badu: "Hey Shooter"
Because he isn't busy enough these days, Damon Albarn (Blur, Gorillaz) also has a supergroup with Red Hot Chili Pepper Flea and the late Fela Kuti’s drummer Tony Allen. On this song, they throw in Erykah Badu for good measure. It’s a great listen, but it would have been better if it included Justin Bieber, Paul McCartney, Mike Watt, Chuck D and was then remixed by Diplo.

The Pains of Being Pure at Heart: Acid Reflex Remix EP
Last year's LP from these Brooklyn twee fetishists was one of my favorites, but this Record Store Day remix EP—which you can stream for free—is just alright. Twin Shadow works the most wonders with the material, but Washed Out and Saint Etienne provide some decent remixes. [Play It Again Sam]

DJ Drama ft. Young Jeezy, Ludacris, T.I. & Future: “We In This Bitch”
This song has an embarrassment of ATL hip-hop royalty as well as a just plain embarrassing lyric: “We got a section of these girls/And they better speak in English.” [XXL]

The Drums: “I Don’t Want to Go Alone”
The Drums new b-side is a surprisingly chilly electronic tune that finds the lead singer crooning and lamenting somewhere between Thom Yorke and Bono. [Stereogum]

Julie Holter: Ekstasis
Julie Holter’s idiosyncratic folk-pop has been earning her raves from the blogosphere. Is it deserved? You can stream her album at NPR and decide for yourself. [NPR]

O.C. & Apollo Brown: “Prove Me Wrong"
The New York underground rap giant returns with this astute, pensive track. [Prefix]

Katy B: “Witches Brew (Diplo remix)”
Why is Diplo remixing a six-month-old track from this British singer? Because he’s Diplo, dammit, and he can. [Prefix]
