Jack White Rips Himself Off on New Solo Track
Is it just me, or does this new Jack White solo song "Machine Gun Silhouette" sound an awful lot like the White Stripes' "My Doorbell"? Yep, it does.
The track—just released as the B-side to White’s Third Man Records 7” of “Love Interruption,” a single from his upcoming solo debut—has a similar cadence and snarling-sassy vocal from Mr. White. Which is A-OK by me. With “Machine Gun,” though, White expands on the Stripes’ stripped down style, layering on slide guitar, flute, piano, electric keyboards and fiddle. Again, A-OK by me.
So, what did we learn here? Ripping yourself off is always a good idea. Always. Listen below, then sound off in the comments.
