Serious, analytical and academic music journalists we are, we don't have time to busy ourselves with such frivolities as "toys" and things. (Ed. note: We do. All the time.) But when we found out that Hasbro released a G.I. Joe figure of the RZA, grand poobah of Wu-Tang Clan, chess master, classics author and NASA-collaborating inventor of "The Replicator," I had to investigate.
As legend goes—because anything RZA-related gets the word "legend" attached to it at this point—Hasbro asked the rapper/producer/actor, who plays Blind Master in the upcoming G.I. Joe: Retaliation, which accessories he wanted his action figure to have. Grand prize to whoever said "wide-brimmed hat with blades coming out of it." The figure was unveiled at this year's Toy Fair.
AllHipHop points out that "RZA’s Blind Master character is a martial arts sensei and part of the Arashikage ninja clan that also includes other popular G.I. Joe characters Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow." We point out that there is now a RZA action figure available and Valentine's Day is around the corner. You know what to do.
