Whitney Houston's Cause of Death: What We Know So Far
Pronounced dead at 48 in the Beverly Hilton Hotel Saturday afternoon, the exact cause of Whitney Houston’s death remains unclear. As of Sunday afternoon, just a few details of the circumstances surrounding her untimely death have been officially confirmed.
Houston’s bodyguard found her unresponsive in her fourth floor hotel room: he alerted hotel security who immediately contacted the police.
Paramedics attempted CPR on Houston for 20 minutes but to no avail. She was pronounced dead at 3:55pm. Although the coroners are unable to reveal what they saw in her room, they did confirm to CBS that her autopsy will begin today.
"At this time, there's no obvious evidence of foul play or cause of death,” Beverly Hills Police Lieutenant Mark Rosen told People. “We don’t know yet,” is all police had to say about the question of drugs in her room.
Given Houston’s self-professed troubles with drugs over the years, rumors are blanketing the Internet, but this is all that has been confirmed by officials so far. FUSE is working to confirm as many additional details as possible, keep checking back for latest updates.
