El-P Gets Help From Interpol, Danny Brown on New Album
Underground hip hop icon El-P has been a trailblazing figure in hip hop for more than 15 years, first as a member of influential group Company Flow and later as a solo artist. It's been five years since the MC/producer released I'll Sleep When You're Dead, but mark May 22 on your calendar for the release of follow-up Cancer for Cure on Fat Possum Records.
Like Dead, El Producto brought in a slew of guests for the album, including Interpol lead singer Paul Banks and rappers Danny Brown, Killer Mike and Mr. Muthaf**kin' eXquire. This is good news.
Five years between albums doesn't mean the dude hasn't been busy, having appeared on Das Racist's mixtape and debut album, the Adult Swim single "Drones Over BKLYN" and a verse on Mr. Muthaf**kin' eXquire's "Huzzah."
Listen to the first single "The Full Retard" over at Pitchfork.
