Tegan and Sara's 2009 album Sainthood was one of my favorite albums of the year and became a critical and commercial success. So it's great to get the update that the twin sisters are back in the studio working on their as-yet-untitled seventh album.
The duo recently finished working with producer Mike Elizondo (Mastodon, Rilo Kiley) and are set to collaborate with Greg Kurstin (The Shins, Lily Allen) and Justin Meldal-Johnsen (Neon Trees, M83).
"Sara and I are trying to step outside of our comfort zones and push ourselves to the extreme with this one so get ready for a whole new T+S sound!" Tegan said in a statement. "We strive to keep things fresh and exciting with each new record and I definitely feel like we're accomplishing that so far."
If you want to see the album's ongoing progress, the duo is keeping weekly reports and photos on their website. No single or release date has been announced as of yet, but we'll keep you posted.
