WATCH: Hot Chip & Animal Collective Tunes on 'The Simpsons'
The Simpsons has a long and illustrious relationship with awesome music—Smashing Pumpkins, the Ramones, Metallica, Green Day, Johnny Cash and others have all appeared on the show. Music from many more has appeared on the soundtrack. The latest: Hot Chip and Animal Collective, whose songs both popped up on Sunday night's episode of the long-running animated series.
Titled "A Totally Fun Thing That Bart Will Never Do Again"—a nod to late author David Foster Wallace's collection of essays—the episode features Hot Chip's "Boy From School" accompanying the opening sequence. It shows Bart trudging through with his tired week at school, dodging spitballs, out-running bullies and the like. Watch below. And according to Pitchfork, Animal Collective's "Winter's Love" plays as Bart slides belly-first down a snowdrift. Homer then gives a bummed-out Bart some advice: "Yeah, stupid, stop thinking about fun and have it!"
That's my motto this summer.
