Listen: Lana Del Rey & A$AP Rocky's Collabo!
Sure, Lana Del Rey and Odd Future's Tyler, the Creator have a new collabo track in the works, but this one's already in the can: The pouty-lipped singer has teamed with Harlem rapper A$AP Rocky on "Ridin'," from Brooklyn production duo the Kickdrums' new mixtape, Follow the Leader (out today).
UPDATE: The track was pulled from Follow the Leader "due to label reasons." "[The] song got too big too fast," the Kickdrums tweeted. "A$AP wants the track for his album. It's as much his and Lana's music as it is ours so we have to respect that."
So, I have to admit: I'm a bit surprised to report that I totally dig this song. I'm not a huge fan (nor a huge hater) of either artist on their own. Del Rey's love of '90s hip hop is no secret (she def goes for a Biggie Smalls vibe on her debut Born to Die, which also nods to B.I.G. 's Ready to Die LP title). Then, on "Ridin'," she lends a cutesy school girl note as she giggles through the intro. "Lana, that's my bitch," Rocky then spits. This is wacky genius.
What do you think? Pretty cool song, right? Tell me what you think in the comments below.
