Rihanna has caused a minor controversy with the above pic, which appears to show her rolling a weed blunt at Coachella. While the singer hasn't been shy about her enjoyment of medicinal herbs in the past, she's reached new levels of blase around her hobby.
According to Billboard, MTV tweeted on Thursday, "Yikes. @Rihanna's marijuana photos from Coachella spark controversy," to which the singer eloquently replied,
MTV has since deleted the original tweet. Earlier in the week, in response to the non-troversy, RiRi tweeted,
Whether or not you agree with her pro-marijuana stance, you have to respect a major pop superstar not falling in line with the demure, milquetoast Stepford Wive image; an image that would benefit countless handlers and others whose livelihoods are dependent on the singer being as sterile and wholesome as possible. In that sense, Rihanna's more rock star than pop or R&B, asserting her individualism and living a highly public life with a perpetual "This is me; take it or leave it" stance.
You can argue all day on her responsibilities, or lack thereof, concerning her relationship with ex-boyfriend Chris Brown. But that aside, the singer's becoming more Axl Rose and less (insert your favorite pop star here). More importantly, though, does anybody know the going hourly rate to use your head as "Rihanna's weed surface"? Sounds like a kush-y job. Thank you and good night.
In other, completely coincidental, RiRi news, the singer covered Bob Marley Wednesday night (April 18) at the Women's Cancer Research Fund gala. Enjoy.
