Update: Elton John Released From Hospital
Update: According to Billboard, John was released from the hospital and is resting at his London home. He is expected to attend the 3,000th performance of "Billy Elliot" today (May 30) and will begin his summer tour as scheduled on June 1.
The sh**ty news continues.
Elton John was hospitalized for a "serious respiratory infection" on Wednesday morning (May 24), according to the singer's publicist.
John was in the midst of his "Million Dollar Piano" show in Las Vegas when he fell ill and checked himself into Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, according to CNN. John canceled his upcoming Vegas shows throughout the weekend.
“It feels strange not to be able to perform these ‘Million Dollar Piano’ concerts at The Colosseum,” John said in a statement. “I love performing this show and I will be thrilled when we return to The Colosseum in October to complete the eleven concerts soon to be scheduled. All I can say to the fans is sorry I can’t be with you. I hope to see you soon at this wonderful theatre at Caesars Palace.”
John underwent a series of tests in the past 24 hours. "Those tests resulted in the attending Cedars-Sinai physician recommending that Elton not perform any concerts for approximately seven days with complete rest and antibiotic treatment to cure his respiratory infection and prevent any damage," said John's publicist in a statement.
Cedars-Sinai has yet to comment on when John will be released.
