Santigold Recruits Pharrell, Andy Samberg for NYC Show

Samberg's "Shy Ronnie" 'SNL' character attempts, and fails, to add street cred to her new jam "Fame"

May 15, 2012

Monday night during her private gig at New York City's Irving Plaza, Brooklyn-based pop songwriter Santigold brought up a pair of special guests: Pharrell and Saturday Night Live funnyman Andy Samberg, who took the stage as his SNL "Shy Ronnie" character. As expected, the results were hilarious. Watch video footage above (Samberg) and below (Pharrell).

The gig—a self-congratulatory celebration thrown by Samsung to honor their five millionth Facebook "like" (1,000 free concert tickets were issued to the gig, which was also streamed online)—saw Samberg's Shy Ronnie awkwardly dancing to Santigold's "Fame," from her new album Master of My Make-Believe. Sporting the complete Shy Ronnie get-up of fire-red hair, a striped shirt and glasses, Samberg acted as Santigold's nerdiest hypeman. Pharrell later joined for a run through of his and Santigold's 2008 Converse collabo "My Drive Thru." Watch his guest take below.
