Fourteen years after the release of his solo debut, ex-Smashing Pumpkins guitarist James Iha will return on September 18 with Look to the Sky, his second solo offering. Check out the first track, "To Who Knows Where," below.

Iha—a member of A Perfect Circle and power pop super-group Tinted Windows, who has also produced albums from the Sounds, Whiskeytown and Ladytron—teamed with ex-Shudder to Think axeman Nathan Larson to record and co-produce the effort at Iha's own Stratosphere Sound studio in New York City.

The sessions, explained a statement, were "designed to create an atmosphere of freedom [and] experimentation."

"I wanted this record to be more eclectic and reflect all of my tastes which is why it took so long," Iha said. "It was important to me for the record to be multi-dimensional and complex. Being a part of the Smashing Pumpkins, and working with so many other bands and artists since my last album [1998's solo debut Let It Come Down] gave me a fresh perspective on what music could be."

Iha's pals like Yeah Yeah Yeahs' Karen O and Nick Zinner, Tegan and Sara's Sara Quin, Fountains Of Wayne's Adam Schlesinger, Antony & the Johnsons and Television guitarist Tom Verlaine all dropped by to join the sessions, too.

"Working with all of these talented people helped the record evolve in great and unexpected ways."

Added Iha, "I feel like everything should lead up to something and this is a culmination of my journey."
