Is "American Idol" Dead?
On this week's edition of Music/Nerd, host Dan Brown asks a question some may find sacrilegious: Is American Idol, and reality singing shows in general, a dying format? Before you curse at the monitor, Brown astutely points out that American Idol's recent season finale was the lowest-rated in the show's history and that the consumption and distribution of music is vastly different now that when Idol premiered in 2002. Check out the video above for Dan's full take.
In the below video for Music/Nerd Numbercruncher, go behind the numbers and charts and find out how much Flava Flav allegedly owes in child support, why Tron: Legacy soundtrack is back in the news and why two covers of ubiquitous pop hits made the charts at all.
