Justin Bieber Drops Bass-Heavy "As Long As You Love Me"
In case you haven't been following Justin Bieber's hourly (then minutely) Twitter updates, the 18-year-old international megastar just released "As Long As You Love Me" ft. Big Sean today (today being June 11, which means #8days left 'til #BELIEVE, Beliebers! Okay, I've been reading too much Bieber Twitter).
As you'd expect from a teen pop singer making the move from the candy store to the dance floor, this new track gratuitously mines the sounds of modern nightlife, from heavy bass to squeaking synths to dubstep drops.
The lyrics, however, are solid pop platitudes: "We could be starving, we could be homeless, we could be broke / As long as you love me." Hear, that Selena? You kids don't need all that money. The love and cuddles are enough. It's a credit to Bieber's ability to sell a song that he makes that dubious sentiment sound convincing. Take a listen to it below.
The immediate reaction from Bieber fans is, naturally, overwhelmingly positive. My favorite YouTube comment on Bieber new track comes courtesy of LittleMissMinecraft1: "Justin! stop being so sexy! i have to go to school!"
What do you think of the latest song from JB? Like it, love it or gotta have it?
