More good news for Red Hot Chili Peppers fans: Following their new album I'm With You and current world tour (see dates here!), the Los Angeles funk-rock vets are dropping 18 news songs in a singles series!

The 18 tracks, recorded during sessions for I'm With You, will arrive on nine two-sided singles, available digitally and on 7″ vinyl. On August 14 the first single, “Strange Man” and B-side “Long Progression,” will drop; the second, “Magpies” and B-side “Victorian Machinery,” land September 11; the third, “Never Is A Long Time” and B-side “Love Of Your Life,” arrive October 2. The fourth, fifth and sixth singles (no titles have yet been announced) follow on November 6, December 4 and December 18, respectively. The last two singles will drop on a yet-to-be-announced date in early 2013.

All nine will feature cover artwork by Kelsey Brookes, whose colorful, angular paintings and other work has appeared in GQ, Modern Painters, Juxtapoz, Beautiful Decay and Dazed and Confused, among others.

“Some songs seem to have a lot more of an agenda than others," says guitarist Josh Klinghoffer, a onetime RHCP touring axeman/keyboardist who officially joined the Peppers for I'm With You following John Frusciante's departure. "Some songs play well with others and some songs need more attention and a little extra care. Here are some songs that seemed to want to pair up and take a later train.”
