CounterPoint Festival to Host Skrillex, Avicii, M83, Big Boi, Bassnectar
People have been into dancing for a long time—millennia, roughly—but there's probably never been an era where grooving to colossally loud electronic music has been so in vogue. The trend has translated to an exploding interest in EDM (electronic dance music) festivals—consider the forthcoming Electric Daisy Festival in New Jersey, the nation-roving Identity Festival, NYC's Electric Zoo.
Now Atlanta's ready to throw down the dance gauntlet as well, with the newly created CounterPoint Festival going down from Sept. 27-29 on an 8,000-acre property on the Chattahoochee River. Not only will the fest have the absolute biggest names in the EDM wheelhouse (Skrillex, Bassnectar, Avicii, Pretty Lights, Swedish House Mafia's Steve Angello), but it'll cater to hip-hop and indie fans and more with acts like Outkast's Big Boi, M83, Toro y Moi, Wale, Polica, Atmosphere and Theophilus London. (You can still dance to all those performers too, though—don't fret.)
Coming from the capable folks behind both Lollapalooza and Austin City Limits, CounterPoint is in great hands. We wouldn't be at all surprised if this fantastic-looking fest became an annual ATL tradition. Head to the festival's site to see the full lineup and purchase tickets.
