Watch D'Angelo's First Televised Performance in 12 Years
Earlier this month, reclusive soul singer D'Angelo emerged from his honey-slathered shell to deliver an all-covers set at Bonnaroo. Last night at the BET Awards, the cocoon-shedding continued, as D gave his first televised performance in more than 12 years. The 38-year-old singer performed 2000's "Untitled (How Does it Feel)" and new track "Sugar Daddy," the latter having become a mainstay on the singer's recent European tour.
While the performance, which you can watch on BET's website, may not live up to the network's billing as "D'Angelo's Sexiest Performance Ever!," it's a solid representation of where D'Angelo's mindset seems to be (at least optically) in 2012: Healthy, recovered from any past abuses and ready to re-emerge into the spotlight.
The singer recently announced a series of tour dates with Mary J. Blige, followed by a performance at Jay-Z's Made in America festival in Philadelphia on September 1 and 2.
