Tear Jerker: Watch Beyonce's Humanitarian "I Was Here" Video
Holy tear jerker: For the music video for her 4 ballad "I Was Here," Beyonce teamed with the United Nations to honor World Humanitarian Day, August 19. And, you know, since that's today, the video has arrived--watch above.
Even better, Fuse chatted with co-director Kenzo Digital, who told us all about the sweeping, gorgeous clip of Beyonce performing live for fans and UN officials at the UN General Assembly in New York City. Behind her is a massive screen projecting images of humanitarian efforts around the globe. Here's what Kenzo had to say:
"The concept of the video was to transform the iconic UN General Assembly into a massive storytelling canvas that backs Beyonce's incredible performance to tell the story of the UN's humanitarian efforts around the world. We wanted to take this spectacle, and broadcast the incredible energy of the audience reacting to Beyonce's performance and create a music video out of it that would inspire people around the world to participate in World Humanitarian Day."
He adds, "Beyonce is always a great collaborator... [and] I can imagine being a new mom must be an incredible source of inspiration for her as an artist! I think the UN's reach and message coupled with Beyonce's artistry can touch people in a meaningful way."
Agreed.
