Puddle of Mudd Singer Arrested for Drunken Fight on Flight
Wes Scantlin, singer for Puddle of Mudd, has joined the illustrious list of rock stars (like R.E.M.'s Peter Buck!) who have gotten so wasted on a commercial flight that they were later arrested. Scantlin allegedly became so intoxicated and belligerent on a recent JetBlue flight from Boston to Los Angeles that the plane had to be diverted to Austin, Texas, just to remove the unruly Scantlin.
Scantlin is being charged with public intoxication and interfering with a flight crew, a charge that could get the Transportation Security Agency involved.
This is at least the fourth time Scantlin's been arrested. In 2004, he was also arrested for public intoxication after his bandmates abandoned him onstage because he was too drunk to play; Scantlin responded by staying on the stage alone for 30 minutes, shouting at and insulting the crowd before eventually getting arrested. In 2011, he got in trouble for owing $60,000 in taxes. And last January, he was arrested on felony cocaine charges.
In related news, Puddle of Mudd has a “Best of” album, which came out in 2010. You should probably buy it to help this Scantlin fellow out.
