Hear a Preview of Adele's James Bond Theme "Skyfall"
After finally (finally!) confirming she recorded the theme song for the 23rd James Bond film—something people have suspected/known for nearly a year—Adele also revealed the tune's impending release date is just three days away.
According to a by-the-second countdown that's taken over her website, "Skyfall" comes out in Britain just a few minutes after midnight—which means Thursday at 7:07 pm for those of us on the East Coast. And because the Internet can't keep a secret as well as 007, you can listen to a minute-and-a-half preview of "Skyfall" below! (At least, until it gets taken down... so hurry up and click it.)
Adele told Rolling Stone what it means for the expectant mother to be a Bond girl (of sorts). "I'll be back combing my hair when I'm 60 telling people I was a Bond girl back in the day I'm sure!" Adele said, calling the honor "one of the proudest moments of my life."
Surprisingly, the blockbuster hitmaker wasn't totally on board to do a Bond theme until she and 21 producer Paul Epworth got together and started tossing around ideas. "I was a little hesitant at first to be involved with the theme song for Skyfall," she said. "There's a lot of instant spotlight and pressure when it comes to a Bond song [but] it ended up being a bit of a no brainer to do it in the end."
Adele doing the theme for a Daniel Craig Bond flick is an all-around win for everyone. This could be the best Bond theme since Bono and the Edge wrote "GoldenEye" for Tina Turner in 1995.
