Looks like "Say Goodbye" wasn't just the name of a Chris Brown song, as the R&B singer announced his breakup with year-long girlfriend Karrueche Tran over his ambiguous relationship with Rihanna.

"I have decided to be single to focus on my career," Brown said in a statement. "I love Karrueche very much but I don't want to see her hurt over my friendship with Rihanna. I'd rather be single allowing us to both be happy in our lives."

The breakup comes on the heels of some very public outings between Brown and Rihanna, including a brief encounter at the MTV VMAs, partying together at a New York club and a Barclays Center trip to see Jay-Z perform. For some reason, hanging out with his ex- (current?) girlfriend didn't sit well with Tran, who tweeted, "There's a difference between a man and a boy," and the more definitive "bye baby."

In a recent interview with Oprah Winfrey, Rihanna said of Brown, "I lost my best friend. Everything I knew switched in a night and I couldn't control that, so I had to deal with that and that's not easy for me to understand or interpret. It was hard for me to even pay attention to my mind and figuring things out because now it became a circus and I felt protective.

"The only person they hate right now is him. It was a weird confusing space to be in cause as angry and hurt and betrayed as I was, I just felt he made that mistake because he needed help. Everybody is going to say, 'He's a monster' without looking at the source. I was more concerned about him."

June 23: Jack White's Really Rooting for the Home Team

Were the Cubs down or something? Jack White was spotted at last night's baseball game between the Chicago Cubs and San Diego Padres looking absolutely miserable. The Cubbies pulled out a 6-0 win over San Diego last night so the White Stripe ideally should have been enjoying himself in spite of the team's current 41-57 record.
