Swedish songbird El Perro Del Mar, aka Sarah Assbring, is one of the more underappreciated gems of Scandinavia (IMHO).

She debuted in the indie-pop world in 2006 with her self-titled debut and its catchy pairing of strings, piano, horns, keys and woe-is-me lyrics. It was dainty and just great. I couldn't stop listening, especially to tracks like her mournful-Motown single "God Knows." She followed with two more solid efforts, including 2007's From the Valley to the Stars, home of finger-snapping gem "You Can't Steal a Gift," and is now preparing to release her fourth effort, Pale Fire, on November 13. The first taste, "Walk On By," proves that she's on a bit of a streak—and is now finding inspiration in a different style and era of music: '80s dance.

Like Annie Lennox in a C&C Music Factory video (...or something like that), Assbring grooves and struts across a neon-effected sky. It's soooooo '80s. But while she may be bustin' a move, girl still can't shake the blues: "Solitude is my best friend," she coos. It must be; girl is dancing alone.

Watch above and pick up Pale Fire when it drops in November.
