James Murphy Recording Material With Yeah Yeah Yeahs' Nick Zinner
Something is going down between James Murphy and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and from the sounds of these initial beats we can certainly say we want more of it.
Earlier this year Murphy, DJ, producer and all-around-awesome-guy, told Pitchfork that he wasn’t settling into early retirement after disbanding LCD Soundsystem.
"I'm trying to do what I used to do, which is just spend a day in the studio with people I think are good,” he said.
Some of those good people include Arcade Fire, Damon Albarn, Andre 300, Klaxons, Holy Ghost! and YYYs.
Well, catch a listen to this sampling of music that hit the webnet showing YYY’s guitarist Nick Zinner and Murphy tinkering around in a London recording studio. Could this be Murphy’s new post-LCD project? We definitely hope so.
The two musical entities played together, along with other artists, at VICE and Intel's Creators Project earlier this year in San Francisco.
And as you might remember (actually how could you forget) Karen O’s most recent project was her Stop the Virgens “psycho opera” production. The trio have not released any new material since 2009’s It’s Blitz! But this video does suggest a new YYY’s album is in the works produced by the master himself. We’ll start praying now.
