Keith Richards Forced to Apologize to Mick Jagger Before Rolling Stones Reunite
You may have heard about the Rolling Stones upcoming 50th anniversary shows. But did you know Keith Richards had to apologize to Mick Jagger before the latter would agree to the reunion?
In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Jagger and Richards admitted the issue. "He did apologize, to my face," Jagger said. "So you have to put all that sort of stuff away. Water under the bridge, really. Hopefully, you know, we can carry on working."
"It was something to get out of the bloody way so we could get the band on the road," Richards added. "You know, I'll say sorry to God if you like. I don't give a sh-t. I said, 'Look forward, brother, look forward.' If you was married to somebody for 50 years, you can have your little spats here and there, and we don't mind having them in public occasionally. We can't get divorced – we're doing it for the kids!"
But what was he apologizing for? It's not entirely clear but it could have something to do with the, um, unflattering information Richards shared in his 2010 autobiography, Life. From the book: "Marianne Faithfull had no fun with [Mick Jagger]'s tiny todger. I know he's got an enormous pair of balls - but it doesn't quite fill the gap."
Of course, there are other insults in Life that could have spurred the apology, including a line where Richards calls Jagger "unbearable," but we're guessing it was the dig at Jagger's junk that caused the most discord. In Jagger's defense, though, at least one rock legend remembers his unit as being "huge and extremely tasty."
