Garbage are having some more Twitter drama. Wednesday morning while the band was asleep in South America, someone hacked into their Twitter account and tweeted to their almost 60,000 followers some very inappropriate words. Tsk, tsk.
SPIN reports that some of the tweets were spam and phishing links, while others called for "really attractive girls" to post pictures of themselves. Yikes.
Garbage followers realized the account was hacked after the deceiver tweeted about being a drunken Shirley Manson.
"Getting a lot of questions about what I'm drinking. Is it that obvious that I'm drunk??? Vanilla malt and a few coolers :) ... There will be whipped cream and Shirley for all."
The hacker then responded to Garbage followers by tweeting “All you people saying I'm dumb. I've made over 19 dollars by spamming ad.fly lins. I hack twitters and spam them great money."
Once Garbage found out about the hacking, they told fans via Facebook: We've regained control of our twitter! Please accept our sincere apologies for flooding your feeds!
Could this be the same hacker that threatened Garbage this past summer? Who knows, but as you may recall, a Twitter user threatened the band, including Manson, earlier this year. Garbage’s manager Paul Kremen contacted the Los Angeles Police Department, which then issued warrants on the Twitter user known as Ray Gunn. He hasn’t tweeted anything since mid-June.
