If Jimi Hendrix hadn’t joined the 27 Club at a tragically young age (27, to be exact), the Guitar God would have turned 70 today. It's frustrating and tantalizing to think about what the undisputed Master of the Axe would have given us if he'd lived even a few more years—how would he have adapted to the rise of metal? Punk? *NSYNC?
Fortunately for fans, a new collection of unreleased Hendrix material called People, Hell and Angels comes out next year, and you can listen to a snippet of it over here. But in the meantime, listen to the classic studio and live recordings of a man whose first language was rock n' roll.
