Madonna’s MDNA tour was fraught with controversy throughout its run, but was that the reason concertgoers flocked to her show, making it the highest grossing tour in 2012?

Whatever the reason, and despite having very low MDNA album sales, Madge beat out top-selling touring artists making her number one, Billboard reports.
