Just hours after Britney Spears announced she would not be returning as judge on the X Factor, she dropped another bomb: her engagement to Jason Trawick is off.

Jeff Raymond, a rep for the pop star, released the statement: "Britney Spears and Jason Trawick have mutually agreed to end their one-year engagement. As two mature adults, they came to the difficult decision to go their separate ways while continuing to remain friends.”

Trawick’s relationship with Spears first began as business when he became her agent in 2009 and helped the singer get her career back on track after her infamous meltdown a couple of years prior.

The couple began dating a few months later and Trawick proposed to Spears in December 2011 on his 40th birthday. Trawick also became a co-conservator of her personal affairs along with Spears’ father, Jamie Spears. Since the announcement of their breakup Trawick has since been removed of that title.

Spears released a statement saying: “Jason and I have decided to call off our engagement. I’ll always adore him, and we will remain great friends.”
