When MTV asked Q-Tip why he didn't appear on Kanye West's Cruel Summer compilation last year, the former A Tribe Called Quest frontman said two sentences that have since blown up in hip hop circles online: "I have to let the cat out of the bag. If there's a Cruel Summer, then there's got to be a Cruel Winter right."

Not necessarily. In an interview with Common about his new movie LUV, Vulture snuck in the question people really wanted to know: Is Cruel Winter actually happening? "Oh, yeah, nah, nah. I don't think that's happening," said the rapper. "It was more of a rumor—cats been creating, but everybody's been doing their solo album. So that's what that is." Damn. And there was a fake trailer and everything.

So the sordid tale of a rumored album that may or may not be happening with music that may or may not have been recorded is over. Until someone else in the crew accidentally raises an eyebrow when saying the word "summer" and everything is back on. At least Common's busy.
