Well, it seems pop spats are a lot like international politics: Despite both sides calling for peace and an end to their bitter, embarrassing battle, the Lady Gaga vs. The Osbourne Family beef continues, becoming more heated (and public) with no ceasefire in sight. The latest: Gaga strikes via Facebook while Sharon sounds off on her TV show, even alluding that Gaga's behavior could inspire a Sandy Hook-like shooting spree. Ughhh...
In case you missed it, here's what happened (deep breath...): Kelly Osbourne made fun of Gaga on her show Fashion Police and the Little Monsters weren't having it. They harassed Osbourne on Twitter, then Kelly called them "the worst" in an interview. Gaga posted an open letter criticizing Osbourne's show, then Sharon Osbourne criticized Gaga in an open letter of her own. Phew!
SINCE THEN, Gaga took to her Facebook account (54 million "likes" for those keeping count) to say, "I am an activist. Nobody takes adolescents seriously, I do. My letter to Kelly Osbourne was open, because her statements on cyber-bullying were public & as a youth activist I'm compelled to be involved."
Sharon responded on CBS' The Talk, saying, "Don't let your fans be so hideously damaging, hurtful, violent... on your website." Adding, "If you are a Mother Monster, monitor it. Why haven't you, as a responsible young woman, said, 'No violence on my website, no violence, no threats, no violence.'"
Osbourne also slammed Gaga for using gun imagery in her live shows. "All I'm asking her to do is to stay true to her foundation, which she said [she created because] she wants the world to be a braver, kinder world," Sharon explained. In perhaps her most controversial statement in the feud, Sharon then alluded that Gaga's gun love could inspire an event like the recent shooting in Netwon, Conn. "[It only takes] one young person that wants attention," Sharon said.
She wrapped her show by pleading for Gaga "to say, 'Hey guys, I love you, I understand you, [but] not everyone does. Please don't be violent on my site.'"
So... Who's side are you on: Gaga's or Osbourne's?
