Sheryl Crow Breaks Silence on Ex-Fiance Lance Armstrong's Doping Scandal

"Honesty is always the best bet," Crow says about Armstrong's confession

The only person we've been waiting to hear from more than Sheryl Crow is Manti Te'o's fake girlfriend. We'll be waiting a long time for the latter, but Lance Armstrong's ex-girlfriend has finally broken her silence about the cyclist's confession to Oprah that he used performance-enhancing drugs during his Tour de France victories.

When ET's Nancy O'Dell asked the Grammy winner about her reaction toward Lance's admission, the giant smile quickly left her face. After letting out an exasperated sigh, Sheryl kept her answer diplomatic: "Honesty is always the best bet, and the truth will set you free... I always contend that the truth is the best way to go."

Crow and Armstrong began dating in 2003 and after a short engagement, the couple broke up in 2006. Lance won his first Tour de France in 1999 and then every year after until 2005. Not to suggest that Sheryl knew anything about Lance's doping, but the times do overlap. Maybe that sigh says a lot more than we think it does... maybe...
