Well, it's not exactly as sinister as all that. But the good folks at Spotify did analyze the 2.8 million exercise-related playlists on the music-streaming service and determined what the Top 20 Workout Tracks in America are for the month of January 2013.
Glitter n' whiskey party girl Ke$ha rules the nations treadmills, ellipticals and StairMasters with her compulsively-listenable hit "Die Young." Britney Spears and will.i.am's jam "Scream & Shout" was the second-most-listened to track, while Macklemore & Ryan Lewis' No. 1 hit "Thrift Shop" came in third place. EDM tracks have a strong showing on this list, with Swedish House Mafia and Calvin Harris rounding out the Top 5.
