Vampire Weekend Unveil New Song & Album Release Date
After 20 months of writing and recording, Vampire Weekend have finally finished their third album. The NYC indie outfit made the announcement in a succinct tweet that simply read, "LP3 complete. May 7th." And now fans can hear a live rendition of one of the LP's tracks, recorded by a fan at the band's recent gig in Sydney.
The muddled audio of the new track, entitled "Arms," probably doesn't do the LP version much justice, but you can tell Ezra Koenig and company are giving their softer side some serious lovin'—after all, they told Rolling Stone the album has "more piano and acoustic guitar." And hell, "Arms" even has strings, a far cry from the frenetic, Graceland-esque guitar work of their debut.
Take a listen below and stay tuned for more details about their album. Like, you know, what it's called, because reports that it's named Lemon Sounds were apparently false.
