Yesterday, Chris Brown tweeted a picture of himself and rock legend Elton John huggin', muggin' and checking out each other's rings. If you saw it, you probably thought, "Hey, a lot of celebrities meet randomly at galas. A few pictures doesn't mean that a gay icon is BFFs with a dude who has been less than open-minded toward the LGBTQ community."
Well, you were wrong. Chris Brown told the New York Post that he and Elton have been off-camera friends for a year now.
"I met Elton about a year ago, and he’s been a good friend to me,” Brown said at the Sunday night fundraiser for the Elton John AIDS Foundation "So it is great to be here tonight to support him.”
So what does this mean? Do Chris Brown and Rihanna come over for game nights with John and his husband David Furnish? Does Brown go to their sons' birthday parties? Do they sit around and talk sh-t on Madonna?
While we don't know the answer to these questions, we do know it's not the first time Elton has befriended a celebrity accused of misogyny and homophobia. Aside from his famous performance with Eminem at the Grammys, Elton has palled around with Axl Rose and even played Rush Limbaugh's wedding.
As for a potential collaboration, well, Brown isn't ruling it out. "Music is music. It transcends everything, so I would love it if we could work together," he said. So you can pretty much guarantee these two will hit the Grammy stage together at some point in the next decade.
