1,276 recording studio Instagram pics later and the Kings of Leon have wrapped recording efforts on their sixth album, expected to drop this September, NME reports.

"I thought we were going to make a really mature album but I'm amazed how youthful it sounds," bassist Jared Followill said. "It's like a mix of 'Youth & Young Manhood' and 'Because Of The Times,'" he added, referencing the band's raucous 2003 debut and their explosive, studio-glossed 2007 release.

On March 8 Jared also Tweeted about the LP: "Just tried for a sequence to the new album. Very exciting stuff. I can't quite nail it down due to the being too drunk. #Tomorrow"

The upcoming LP follows 2010's Come Around Sundown, the band's rootsy response to 2008's Only By the Night, which produced ubiquitous mega hits like "Sex on Fire" and "Use Somebody." Lots has happened since the Followill boys' last release, too: Frontman Caleb Followill had a breakdown in 2011, leaving a Dallas arena stage to "vomit" and "drink a beer." He never returned.

The band's tour was canned due to "vocal issues and exhaustion," prompting a series of scathing tweets from Jared, who wrote, "There are internal sicknesses & problems that have needed to be addressed... I can’t lie. There are problems in our band bigger than not drinking enough Gatorade."

In the down time, the Followills have been focusing on family. Nathan and his wife, singer-songwriter Jessie Baylin, gave birth to a baby girl. Caleb and his wife, Victoria Secret model Lily Aldridge, also welcomed a baby girl. Jared got married (to a model, natch) and also formed a side-project, Smoke & Jackal, which released their debut EP.
