Those heading out to Coachella next month to catch the bright, sunny sounds of Lou Reed will be as disappointed as the protagonist of one of Reed's songs, as the singer was forced to cancel both upcoming festival appearances.

A spokesperson for promoter Goldenvoice confirmed the news Monday night, though no official reason has been given for the cancellation. Even before official confirmation, organizers had already removed Reed's name from the official poster. The iconic singer has also canceled an upcoming April 17 show at Los Angeles' Orpheum Theatre due to the vague-sounding "unavoidable complications".

Reed was set to perform on Friday, April 12 + 19 alongside Blur, the Stone Roses and Yeah Yeah Yeahs. No word yet on who, if anyone, will replace the singer.
