Thousands of little-known bands are descending on Austin, TX this week for SXSW 2013, but now a bonafide rock god is joining the fiesta. Billy Corgan's Smashing Pumpkins will play Red Bull's festival-closing party on Saturday night, and you can watch them blow the roof off.
The party—Red Bull Sound Select Presents: 120 Hours in Austin—will also feature sets from Ringo Deathstarr, Girl in a Coma and Austin's own The Sword, who gave Fuse an insider's guide to the festival (read it now!). The time and location of SP's gig Saturday night in Downtown Austin are still TBD, but will be revealed the morning of the show via Twitter (@rbsoundselect).
The Red Bull Sound Select shows rage all week in Austin and are free with RSVP. Check Twitter for more details, or head to redbullsoundselect.com.
Following the 120 Hours in Austin party, the Pumpkins kick off a world tour in support of their latest album, Oceania, in Mexico on March 23. See the full itinerary, which extends into July, at the band's website.
