Hear Snoop Lion & Miley Cyrus' Surprisingly Great Collabo "Ashtrays & Heartbreaks"

Hey, we're not saying this new track is brilliant, but it's certainly an interesting direction for both
 /

Five years ago, it would be unthinkable to suggest gangsta rap icon Snoop Dogg and Disney queen Miley Cyrus would be collaborating on a reggae track about toking up. But after the former's spiritual reinvention and the latter's rebirth as… whatever the hell she is now, it seems anything is possible.

Enter "Ashtrays & Heartbreaks," a Diplo-produced duet between the two about "a lotta smoke in the air [we're] blowing out for those who aren't there." With an easy-going beat, spacey production and even a little U2-esque guitar in the background, the latest Reincarnated track is an unexpectedly solid collaboration.

Instead of being the total embarrassment many expected, it actually portends an interesting sonic direction for Miley & the Lion, both of which are in the process of re-hauling their image as more mature artists.

Listen above and see what you think.

July 25: Gaga Goes 'Cheek to Cheek' in the Studio

Whatcha shootin' for, Gaga? Mother Monster uploaded a pic to her Instagram late last night of what looks like a video crew recording her in the studio. She tagged pictures from that night with "#CheekToCheek," the title for her Tony Bennett collaboration LP. Maybe we're getting a making-of documentary for the album too? Fingers crossed!
