New Pearl Jam Album "Hopefully Out This Year," Says Mike McCready
When Mike McCready told Fuse about the tearjerking 20th anniversary reissue of Above, the alt-rock classic (and only release) from his supergroup Mad Season, the guitarist also dished about another release: The upcoming 10th album from his full-time band Pearl Jam.
"We’re working on it right now. We’re about halfway done with it," McCready tells Fuse. "We have about seven songs basically tracked, and we’re going to start relatively soon on another seven or 10 tracks. Then we'll choose the best of those."
McCready also explains the four-year delay since their last release, 2009's Backspacer.
"We’ve been taking our time [working on the LP] for the past two years. [Drummer] Matt [Cameron] has been out with Soundgarden and I’ve been scoring films (like "little indie film" Fat Kid Rules the World and an episode of Shameless.)
But, still, McCready has good news for fans: "We hope to have something out this year," he says of the upcoming album.
So, there you have it: Pearl Jam will (most likely) return in 2013, which means this year will be way better than the last four.
