'Tis a good day for hip hop.
Hours after Jay-Z dropped a blazing new track "Open Letter," (which even caught the White House's eye) his Watch the Throne partner Kanye West and Pusha T decided they were in a giving mood, too. 'Ye wrote this teasing message on Twitter:
Our family Hov brought that real hip hop shit this morning so me and Pusha wanna keep that feeling going— KANYE WEST (@kanyewest) April 11, 2013
And soon enough we had "Numbers on the Boards," a knocking hip hop cut by the G.O.O.D. Music signee bragging about being a baller and putting numbers on the board like a basketball player. The track briefly samples of Hov's "A Million and One Questions" with the line, "Motherf-ckers can't rhyme no more 'bout crime no more."
The Source reports both 'Ye and rising hip hop/R&B producer Don Cannon, who's crafted tracks for the likes of OutKast, Ludacris, Young Jeezy and Marsha Ambrosius, are the minds behind this off-kilter beat.
No matter who was behind the mixing boards on this one, it's sure to up the anticipation for Pusha's upcoming album, My Name is My Name.
