UPDATE: Turns out all those tweets were just promotion for a Funny or Die skit starring Diddy as Lord Wolcott, the newest member of the Downton Abbey cast. Check out the video above, which finds Diddy inserting himself into select scenes.
Today in left-field news: Diddy has announced that not only is Downton Abbey one of his favorite shows (which is news in and of itself), but he'll be appearing on the PBS British period drama as a series regular.
MY BIG NEWS: So happy to announce that Im a series regular on DOWNTON ABBEY-my favorite show+i'll be debuting a sneak peek tonight 12am PST!— Diddy (@iamdiddy) May 15, 2013
Diddy changed his Twitter avatar and background for the ocassion, so you know he means business.
Um, are we the only ones saying "lol what" at the news? (Apparently not.) The last time we checked, Downton Abbey takes place in a country house in Yorkshire in the early 1900s. We don't exactly think of the "It's All About the Benjamins" rapper as a guest star front-runner.
As Diddy tweeted, fans can catch a sneak peek of his Downton collabo tonight at 12 a.m. PST.
