Kanye West's New Album Release Date Now Unconfirmed

A Def Jam marketing exec confirmed the news, then unconfirmed the news...?

Since Kanye West confirmed his guest appearance on the season finale of Saturday Night Live, buzz of new music from the rapper has reached deafening volumes online. But when will it arrive? Good question!

Early Thursday morning, West took to his Twitter account to post two words: "June Eighteen."

Formerly an aimless online jabberer, 'Ye rarely uses Twitter now—in fact, this is the only tweet currently on his account—and the rapper didn't offer any further details. Was it the release date for new music? Or perhaps his baby's due date? Or a new fashion initiatve?

Rapradar's Elliott Wilson confirmed the news with Chris Atlas, SVP of Marketing at 'Ye's label Island Def Jam Recordings, who said that, yes, a new Kanye West album would drop on June 18. However, Wilson soon deleted his tweet, then followed with another saying, "Kanye West album release date is NOT confirmed. Don't know for sure what [Kanye's] tweet means. Apologies for false info."

So there you have it: June 18 is still a mysterious date in Kanye World.

As previously reported, though, West's new album is apparently all done. "I just heard that Def Jam had a listening last week and everyone at the label listened to it and loved it," Hot 97's DJ Peter Rosenberg revealed. "I heard it's dark but really good."

July 22: HyunA Monkeys Around

HyunA, the K-pop star who gained global recognition from co-starring in Psy's "Gangnam Style" video, is teasing her new single "Red" in a very sexy, very odd new photoshoot. The singer poses amid two hunky beefcake wearing humongous, furry monkey heads. HyunA's new music will reportedly showcase a more "mature" side from the singer and while this isn't the look we were necessarily imagining, it does amp up our anticipation.
