Is Nicki Minaj Leaving 'American Idol'?
That's all, folks: Nicki Minaj is (allegedly) out the door.
Us Weekly reports that an unnamed source close Nicki says the most outspoken judge on "American Idol" will be leaving the judging chair after the current season. The announcement comes days after Randy Jackson, the only original judge still on the show, is also leaving after 12 seasons.
According to Us Weekly, Nicki never planned on judging for more than one season. After leaving the show, the "Super Bass" rapper plans on keeping busy on tour, focusing on her next album and her endorsements. "She's okay with it," the source said. "She had a great time."
But are we okay with it? Despite our eye roll at Nicki's explanation of how hard an eight-hour day is on the "American Idol" set, she was a really great judge. Not only did she give it to the contestants straight—even taking things to Twitter when she felt her opinion wasn't heard like she did with ex-contestant Devin Velez—but she consistently brought the drama. Nicki once showed up late to a live taping of the show, and her spats with fellow judge Mariah Carey this season were one of the main reasons to tune in to "Idol."
Sorry to see you go, Nicki. What are we going to do now? Keith Urban, start sh-t talking someone.
