As the birthplace of hip hop, New York has a rich rap history. Rap started in the Bronx and its first superstars—Run-D.M.C.—hailed from Queens, but there's no borough with a higher hip hop profile than Brooklyn.
Thanks to the love rappers like the Notorious B.I.G., Jay-Z and Talib Kweli showed for their hood over the years, you can't be a hip hop head without having a few BK references ingrained in your head.
