Listen: Azealia Banks' New Single "ATM JAM" ft. Pharrell
"ATM JAM" is the infectious result of pairing a hitmaker like Pharrell with a divisive rapper like Azealia Banks. The single, which was inititally premiered on New York hip hop station Hot 97 on July 2, is an accessible drum n' bass track with samples of maniacal laughing, bomb explosions and gunshots. It's blitzkrieg pop. Listen above.
The Harlem MC has had the public divided with her aggressive and scream-y singles (like the aggro-electro "Yung Rapunxel") and constant Twitter beefs with, well, everyone (we've counted 10 feuds). But her debut full-length Broke With Expensive Taste still has no release date and she's yet to produce a bonafide hit. "ATM JAM" could help with the latter. After all, Pharrell gave both Robin Thicke and Daft Punk their highest-charting singles ever (aka the No. 1 and No. 2 songs right now).
If anyone can get Banks on track, it's Pharrell. Let's hope he doesn't become feud No. 11.
