Goldfrapp Return With New Single "Drew" & Mini Film
London electro-pop duo Goldfrapp—known for atmospheric yet danceable tracks like "Ooh La La" and "Rocket"—just unveiled details for their sixth album, Tales of Us, which drops September 10. They also premiered the LP's first track, "Drew," and its arty, black-and-white music video, which is excerpted from a longer feature film about the album. Watch and listen here. Warning: It's NSFW.
Goldfrapp have five No. 1s on Billboard's Hot Dance Club Songs chart, but "Drew" is in full chill-mode. It's a soft, acoustic guitar ballad highlighting frontwoman Alison Goldfrapp's gentle vocals as it grows louder with strings and thundering drums, courtesy of producer Will Gregory.
The six-minute track's artistic music video shows the singer dancing and flying remote control airplanes with three naked friends. It ends with Alison discovering her friends in bed together before unbuttoning her dress to join them. Oh lala! The clip was directed by Lisa Gunning (who also worked on the duo's "Believer" video) and is from a full film based around Tales of Us, which a statement says will hit theaters later this year.
