One day after Ariel Castro pleaded guilty in order to avoid the death penalty, kidnapping victim Amanda Berry made a surprise appearance at Cleveland's RoverFest onstage with Nelly.

The St. Louis rapper—whose Nellyville album dominated the airwaves when the Cleveland native was abducted at the age of 16 a decade ago—brought her out for her first public appearance. "I can't even imagine the strength and courage it took to keep it going," Nelly said of Berry, who hugged her family while he paid tribute to her.

Although Berry didn't say anything, the 27-year-old smiled and dance onstage as Nelly performed. Watch the video above.
