Pearl Jam Announce U.S. Tour and Launch New Countdown to... Something
One day, in the faraway future, you'll be able to tell your kids of a time when tours just appeared without any countdowns or previews. Taking a cue from Justin Timberlake, Pearl Jam launched an online countdown July 1, revealing a new U.S. tour today. The two-leg, 24-date tour begins October 11 at Pittsburgh's Consol Energy Center and criss-crosses the country before ending in Seattle on December 6.
That's not really the surprising part, though. Once the countdown hit zero and Pearl Jam fans (presumably) began to flood StubHub to buy the (presumably again) already sold-out tickets, the band announced another countdown set to go off on Thursday at 3pm EST.
No word on what that countdown will announce, but the smart money is on a new album, the band's first since 2009's Backspacer. But who knows? They could be rebooting Bumfights or reenacting that Diff'rent Strokes episode when Sam gets kidnapped for all we know.
The band's use of social media has been mixed. They released a tour announcement video via YouTube (smart!) but also released this Vine (weird).
Tickets for Pearl Jam's North American dates go on sale Saturday, July 27 at 10am local time.
