Drake Brings Out Every Rapper Ever at OVO Fest
It's not like we needed any more proof that Drake has taken on, and relished, his role in the upper echelons of hip hop, but damn if the rapper didn't take that to new levels Monday night at the 4th annual OVO Fest in Toronto. Any disappointment of Frank Ocean's medically induced no-show was forgotten as Drizzy brought out (deep breath) Kanye West, Lil Wayne, Diddy, J. Cole, Miguel, The Weeknd, A$AP Rocky, TLC, Big Sean, Ma$e and Wale.
As seen in the video above, West performed "New Slaves" "All of the Lights" and "Can’t Tell Me Nothing" while noting Drake's influence on his own work. "As I stand in this city right now, I just want to try to understand that there’s been a lot of rappers that came in the game that wasn’t able to do something like this for their city," West said. "Me and Hov would’ve never made Watch the Throne if this n-gga wasn’t putting pressure on us like that."
In a post-show interview with Revolt, Drake spoke on the importance of the night. "That was a moment where I said, 'I don't know if this is real or not.' I'm not sure if I'm still sleeping from the morning. It's probably the most important moment of my life to date," said the rapper. "Who knows where this goes? Maybe we do music now like we were supposed to. Kanye's mentored me through his decisions and I've studied him very closely. I'm 26. Jay. Wayne. Kanye. Those guys are gods to me."
More videos from the epic night and setlist below. Also, listen to his just-dropped (and ridiculously sexy) synth-laden jam "Hold On We're Going Home."
