Just last week Lady Gaga shared the, err, colorful album artwork for her first ARTPOP single, "Applause."

Now, the Mother Monster is letting us in on some of the lyrics.

The cover art for "Applause" is stylized photo of Gaga under a white sheet with oodles of face-paint and a black beanie. We know...it's hard to explain…just check it out here, OK?!

When asked about the unique look in an interview with WWD, Gaga said:

"It’s interesting how you view things, and you look at it like, I’m a pop icon, and [you wonder] ‘Is this the image of the album? Is this the direction? Who came up with it?’ I think that’s so interesting because it’s exactly the kind of thing we’re trying to destroy..."

We're not totally sure what that means, but we do know that the song was written with longtime collaborator DJ White Shadow and now we have this:

"Applause" will be released August 19 and ARTPOP will follow on November 11th.

Until then, we're pretty sure the Mother Monster will be kind and throw some more bones/album clues out for her Little Monsters! And will be there when she does!
